Aramid is commonly known under the copyrighted trade name of Kevlar; the term Kevlar has for years been widely used to mean aramid; it is in fact a trade name owned by DuPont. A few years ago DuPont decided to protect the term Kevlar. Now companies that want to use the term must either buy their aramid from DuPont (at DuPont's appointed price) or pay them 7% of total sales. Galasport buys their aramid from a German company and therefore cannot use the term Kevlar.)
